How to Pair AirPods with iPhone

Put AirPods in Pairing Mode
To connect your AirPods to your iPhone, you need to put them in pairing mode. Here’s how to do it:
- Take your AirPods out of the charging case.
- Hold the button on the back of the case until the LED light on the front starts flashing white.
- Your AirPods are now in pairing mode and ready to connect to your iPhone.
Note that if you’ve previously paired your AirPods with another device, you’ll need to unpair them before you can pair them with your iPhone. To unpair your AirPods, go to your iPhone’s Bluetooth settings, tap the “i” icon next to your AirPods, and select “Forget This Device.”
Connect AirPods to iPhone
Once your AirPods are in pairing mode, you can connect them to your iPhone using the following steps:
- Unlock your iPhone and go to the home screen.
- Open the lid of your AirPods case, with the AirPods still inside.
- Wait for the AirPods to appear on the list of available Bluetooth devices on your iPhone. You should see an animation on your iPhone screen that shows the AirPods and their battery level.
- Tap the AirPods on the list of available Bluetooth devices.
- Wait for the connection to be established. Once your AirPods are connected, you’ll see a message on your iPhone screen that says “Your AirPods are Connected.”
If you have trouble connecting your AirPods to your iPhone, try resetting your AirPods by putting them back in the case and holding down the button on the back until the LED light on the front starts flashing amber. Then try the steps above again.
Test AirPods Connection and Audio Quality
After you’ve connected your AirPods to your iPhone, it’s a good idea to test the connection and audio quality to make sure everything is working properly. Here are a few steps you can take to do this:
- Play some music or a podcast on your iPhone.
- Make sure the audio is coming through your AirPods by checking the audio output settings on your iPhone.
- Move around the room and make sure the audio doesn’t cut out or get distorted.
- Try using the “Hey Siri” command to make sure your AirPods are properly detecting your voice.
- If you have the AirPods Pro, try activating the noise-cancelling or transparency modes to make sure they’re working properly.
If you notice any issues with the connection or audio quality, try resetting your AirPods or contacting Apple support for assistance.

- Check that Bluetooth is turned on your iPhone.
- Put your AirPods back in the case and then take them out again to reset them.

Resetting AirPods
If you’re having persistent issues with your AirPods and you’ve tried all the troubleshooting steps, you may need to reset them to their factory settings. Here’s how to do it:
- Put your AirPods in the case and close the lid.
- Press and hold the button on the back of the case until the LED light on the front flashes amber.
- Release the button and wait for the LED light to flash white.
- Your AirPods have now been reset to their factory settings.
After resetting your AirPods, you’ll need to connect them to your iPhone again using the steps outlined above. Keep in mind that resetting your AirPods will also erase any custom settings or configurations you’ve set up, so you’ll need to set them up again after the reset.
